East Lake Park Mural Project – Java Lewis and David Murray
As a part of “East Lake After Hours,” David Murray and Java Lewis will be painting a mural of East Lake Park depicting the past (around 1902). The artists welcome your questions and feedback while they are working.
When: October 4-9, 4:00-6:00 pm.
Where: In front of the East Lake Performing Arts Center, 7600 block on 1st Avenue N.

Rubens Tube: Science + Music + Fire – James Nylen
Bring your music instrument or favorite playlist and jam with James and his Rubens Tube (flame tube) to create multiple visual effects resulting from the relationship between sound waves and sound pressure.
When: October 5-8, 4-7 pm
Where: East Lake Performing Arts Center, Gallery 1, 7600 block on 1st Avenue North.

Hip Hop with M.A.D. Skillz Dance Company – Winston Strickland
Observe or take class with the dynamic M.A.D. Skillz company dancers under the direction of Artistic Director Winston Strickland. He just might work you into company rehearsals, too!

Where: Estate Liquidators, 7623 1st Ave North.

Luminaries 3D Lantern Installation & Workshops – Red Mountain Makers
In the Luminaries workshops, people are invited to design their own panels to construct 3D lanterns using LED lights. Once installed around the East Lake Artist Village, the lanterns will both illuminate and cast shadows on the events going on throughout the month.
When: October 8, 6:00-8:00 pm.
Where: East Lake Performing Arts Center, Gallery 3, 7600 block on 1st Avenue North.

Bridge – Katie Gonzalez
The word bridge is defined as “something that is intended to reconcile or form a connection between two things.” Bridges are literal connections between two points, as well as metaphorical connections between ideas. For this project, Katie will explore the idea of connections through the interactive installation of a bridge created out of string. Katie will be hosting community Natural Dye Workshops to dye the string for the installation.
When: October 8, 5:30-7:30 pm, October 10, 10:00 am-2:00 pm.
Where: Green space next to East Lake Performing Arts Center, 7600 block on 1st Avenue North.
