Shellie Chambers a native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, holds a B.A. in dance and an M.A. in advertising and public relations from The University of Alabama (UA). While studying at UA, she was a company member of Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre and served as President of Dance Alabama!. Shellie received the Lou Wall Award from the UA dance department faculty in 2003 and was an inaugural recipient of the Cultural Alliance of Greater Birmingham’s Grants to Individual Artists Award in 2007. In 2008 she participated in the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange Crafting Dances Institute, performing in Washington D.C.’s Capital Fringe Festival. Shellie is a founding board member, dancer, choreographer and artistic director of Sanspointe, a Birmingham-based modern dance company. Shellie is artistic director of the Upper School, marketing director, teacher and school touring performer for Children's Dance Foundation.
