Alessia Lovreglio is an Italian dancer maker and performer. After her studies in ballet and modern jazz (english methods) and the bachelor in philosophy, she moves to France to attend the Master in Theory and Practice of Dance, with a specialization in Choreography. There she studies contemporary dance within professional training programs with companies and international choreographers with whom she collaborates for various projects at Theatres and Festivals. She attends internships in choreographic compositions, stage production, theatre planning and communication in Italy, Belgium and France and she takes intensive workshops in improvisation, site specific, vocal body, real time composition, dramaturgy of dance, video dance, with final productions.
In Italy and France she works for Operas, Dance Festivals, Theatre groups and interdisciplinary artistic projects with musicians, visual and digital artists, receiving often artistic residencies for the creative process.
She teaches creative dance and ballet to children, contemporary dance and choreographic composition to young professional dancers and general artists in Italy, France and Belgium.
She won the Italian Choreographic prize GD'A 2012 with Lara Russo, in the group Le specifike, with the contemporary dance piece Allumin-io on the alternance presence/absence, the transitoriness and precariousness of our current reality, made of liquid relationships in constant transformation. Currently in New York, she takes part of workshops for professional dancers with Movement Research and Trisha Brown dance Company,of contemporary dance techniques, repertory and dance making strategies.
On the last months she founds a new group, The KISSmets, with her partner, theatre director and writer Edward Karow Wilson,, where their artistic process and research is focused on the dreamscape, exploring the unexpected of the performance passing through different dynamics of time and space, often accompanied with a multimedia interaction.
After previous works realized in Italy during the period of IFA International Festival Academy at Inteatro, they are developing a new piece, “Else(w)here. dreams and sewing machine” at the Chez Bushwick residency, with a final performance on september at CPR.
