The 2013-2014 season opens with Alabama Ballet At Home from September 27 – October 6, 2013. These six performances feature selected repertory, including an encore of George Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, all performed in the Ballet’s home studio. With complimentary drinks and an affordable ticket price of $20, Alabama Ballet At Home is a great way to introduce friends and family to the excitement of live ballet performance.

Alabama Ballet At Home is followed by horror classic Jekyll & Hyde choreographed by Associate Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer Roger Van Fleteren with an original score by Thomas Helms. Based on the book, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, the story explores the duality of good and evil in human nature. Alabama Ballet is proud to return to the Dorothy Jemison Day Theatre on the Alabama School of Fine Arts campus for Jekyll & Hyde. All tickets to this production are $25.

In December, Alabama Ballet proudly presents George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker™. The Alabama Ballet remains one of only 7 companies in the world granted the right to perform this holiday classic by the Balanchine Trust. Performed to Balanchine's exacting specifications; dazzling choreography, opulent costumes and extravagant sets make this production unlike any other. Let our professional company of 35 dancers show you how spectacular The Nutcracker can be. This production’s title sponsor is Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC.

From February 21 - 23, 2014, Roger Van Fleteren’s Romeo & Juliet returns to the Wright Center. Over 400 years later, the story of star-crossed lovers has not lost its ability to captivate audiences as they witness the unfolding of one of the greatest love stories of all time. Alabama Ballet’s original production remains an all-time audience favorite. The title sponsor for this production is Regions Bank.

The Alabama Ballet’s 2013 – 2014 season closes with Ovation, a mixed repertory performance featuring one of the most celebrated excerpts in classical ballet, The Kingdom of the Shades from La Bayadere. Agnes de Mille’s Rodeo, set to the iconic score from Aaron Copland, rounds out the program. Considered an early example of an American ballet, Rodeo combines the exuberance of a Broadway musical with the discipline of classical ballet technique. The company will return to The Dorothy Jemison Day Theatre for Ovation. All tickets to this production are $25.
