FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEMONTGOMERY, ALABAMA, Friday, July 31, 2009 – The Montgomery Ballet School, the official school of the Montgomery Ballet, will open its doors for a new year of classes starting Monday August 17, 2009. The Montgomery Ballet School serves children, teenagers, adults, and professional dancers, offering dance classes in Creative Movement, Ballet, special classes for Boys and Men’s technique, Pointe, Variations, Partnering, Modern, Jazz, Yoga, and Enrichment for a healthy and proper developing of students, who would like to study the arts of expression through dance vocabulary. Under the current Artistic Director, Elie Lazar, and Executive Director, Priscilla Crommelin-Ball the ballet school continues to be committed to bringing to the Capital and State of Alabama professional and experienced dance instructors who elevate the education of ballet and dance forms in the south. Montgomery Ballet has served the City of Montgomery and the State of Alabama since its establishment in 1958. The longest operational dance organization in the state, Montgomery Ballet School has produced dancers, teachers, choreographers, and citizens who benefit from the qualities, ethics, professionalism, and determination implemented in our school. Dancers who graduated from the Montgomery Ballet School have continued on to professional careers and have earned contracts with American Ballet Theater, Kansas City Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Los Angeles Ballet, and our own Montgomery Ballet.Students who are enrolled at the Montgomery Ballet are eligible to audition for children’s parts in the Company’s annual productions of the Nutcracker held each year at the historic Davis Theatre when they reach the beginning ballet level or the age of 7. Students, age 9-21, are also eligible to audition for placement in the School Ensemble. The School Ensemble may perform with the Montgomery Ballet Company in productions such as the Sleeping Beauty, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Coppelia, Snow White, and this year’s Beauty and the Beast. The students who have been accepted for the Ensemble are offered and invited to additional classes and rehearsals.Registration and enrollment for the new school calendar year is going on now. An open house will be August 3rd-5th from 11am to 5 pm.
