The Downtown Dance Conservatory of the Hardin Center for Cultural Arts located in Gadsden, Alabama, announces that the Royal Academy of Dance Board of Examiners has awarded Artistic Director Linze Rickles McRae the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies. She received full merit for all modules and exams. Linze worked as an apprentice under Tracey Alvey, Artistic Director of the Alabama Ballet, who is credited with the Professional Dancer’s Teaching Diploma. A graduation ceremony will be held July 2010, in London, England. As an affiliate of the Royal Academy of Dance, students participate in one of the most internationally recognized programs of study. Each grade level at the Conservatory provides a series of objectives through the syllabus work of the RAD, providing students with the excellence expected of its programs. The Conservatory is honored to be part of such an incredible network, and to be able to provide students with this training here in Gadsden. Throughout the transition to the new syllabus work, the studio maintains its established foundations for classical ballet. The IMAGIDANCE© program, created by McRae, remains the basis for its pre-ballet curriculum with weekly themes to introduce 3-5 year olds to classical ballet. In October 2009, McRae was also nominated and elected to the Board of Directors for the Alabama Dance Council. The Council is a statewide, nonprofit organization for the Alabama dance community. The ADC’s mission is to promote the study, creation, and performance, and enjoyment of dance in all forms.
