About two Fridays every month of the school year, Children's Dance Foundation's School Touring Program is on the road, presenting one of it's academically-linked dance performances. Math in Motion was created in 1998 by Karl Schaffer and CDF Project Director Mary Foshee. The Magic Circle was created more recently, in 2010. Math in Motion has been performed in more than 200 gymnasiums and cafeterias across the state of Alabama. For many years, it has been part of the Alabama State Council on the Arts Rural Touring Program. It is also often presented by Better Basics. On February 11, 2011 professional cast members Shellie Chambers, Mary Foshee, Michelle Imhof and Rhea Speights loaded up the minivan with all the props and went to Untiontown, Alabama to present two performances of Math in Motion for the entire student body of Uniontown Elementary School. This was Imhof's first performance with the cast. The students and teachers enthusiastically received Math in Motion, and some even stuck around afterward to snap a photo with the cast.Special thanks to the lovely Corina Dalzell for traveling with us, camera in hand!
