Adult Contemporary Dance

BEGINNING LEVEL - NEW!
This beginner-level class, taught by Sara Turney, will focus on developing muscular coordination, core strength, and the basic technical elements of dance while exploring contemporary createive movement. Moving at a slow and fluid pace, this class will introduce floor work and combinations that allow the dancer to explore ways our bodies can move, with an emphasis on placement and spatial awareness.
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED LEVEL
This class is for the experienced dancer taught by CDF Artistic Director Heidi Stoeckley. Sequences are developed and maintained from week to week, so that the dancer can revisit material and slowly build a repertoire throughout the semester. The class is designed to keep the dancer moving nearly the entire hour, working gradually from warm-up to floor work, jumps and finally, cool-down. Curriculum builds skills and knowledge of Martha Graham's core strengthening concepts and floor work, Jose Limon's fall and release methods of travel, and Ballet placement and coordination.
