© The George Balanchine Trust. This is a historic moment for the Huntsville Ballet Company and the region. The piece features two dancers, male and female, and is a beautiful display of technique and stamina. It is legendary in the world of ballet. The performance of the piece is a first for the state of Alabama. On April 8 and 9, Principal Dancers Sarah Pautz and Jayson Pescasio will perform the piece as part of Huntsville Ballet’s Spring performance.

Written in 1938, the ballet Billy the Kid is a biography of the famous outlaw and an homage to the American West. It features traditional folk songs and cowboy tunes as it tells the story of the renegade desprado in two scenes.

The Huntsville Ballet will also be joined by two guest artist from Ballet Chicago performing Balanchine's Stars and Stripes Pas de Deux from George Balanchine's ballet set to the music of John Philip Souza.
