Lacrimosa
Lacrimosa, or “tears”, is a rich tapestry of movement, exploring the lamentations of the human soul, choreographed by international dancer/ choreographer Jean Paul Comelin, restaged by Martha Faesi, ASFA faculty, to Mozart’s Requiem. Mr. Comelin will be on campus for a week in October to put on the finishing touches to his ballet.
Three by Bobby
Choreographed by Mimi Twyman, ASFA faculty, and set to the sounds of Bobby McFerrin, Three by Bobby, is a work in three sections, described as exotic, hypnotic, and spiritual, featuring a large cast of ASFA dancers.
Kumbalawe
Set to the music of Cirque de Soleil, Kumbalawe, choreographed by David Keener, dance department Chair, portrays a world of fantasy and imagination, where anything is possible.
Graduation Ball
A ballet in one Act, original libretto and choreography by David Lichine, set to the waltzes of Johann Straus and created for the Original Ballet Russe in 1941. Graduation Ball is the story of a Ball put on by the young girls of a Viennese boarding school with the cadets from the city’s military school. As the ballet unfolds, adventure and intrigue begin to dominate the festivities. David Keener is restaging this ballet. The elaborate sets and costumes are provided by Alabama Dance Theatre in Montgomery.
