"Boomerang" is a full-length contemporary ballet, choreographed by Artistic Director Jamorris Rivers, and will feature AROVA company dancers as well as seventeen ballet and hip hop high school dancers from around central Alabama. "Boomerang" depicts today's relevant social issue of bullying and will explore the roles that family plays in the development of youth in our society and the conflict that results from free speech and expression within different racial, social, and economic groups. Through the portrayal of three intertwined families and their conflicts, "Boomerang" will not only address the social issues that our society faces today but will also recognize that love, compassion, and respect are the answers to healing our youth and our society as a whole. October is National Bullying Prevention Month and AROVA hopes to bring awareness to this issue through "Boomerang."
