The Summer Dance Intensive is a three-week program running from June 3-21, 2024. The intensive will focus on Horton technique, Contemporary/Classical Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre Jazz, Street Jazz, and Contemporary technique supplemented by Ballroom, Variations, Yoga, Pilates, Men’s Class, Pointe, West African Dance, Photography, and Repertory.
Dancers will have the opportunity to rehearse repertory and new works by established and emerging local and regional professional dance artists, culminating in a showcase at the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts on Brenau’s Historic Campus in Gainesville, Georgia on June 21, 2024.
The Emerging Choreographer’s Workshop is a five-day program May 28-June 1st for high school and college dance choreographers to work on their craft in an open, exploratory and focused lab setting. The workshop will begin with a daily dance class in a different style or form, followed by a choreographic technique class and Dance on Film where participants will practice their skills. Brenau faculty and guest teaching artists will be mentoring choreographers in their work during the intensive. The workshop will conclude with an informal presentation of the choreographers' works on Saturday, June 1st in one of Brenau's performance spaces.
