SANSPOINTE PRESENTS NEW DANCES, MUSIC, ART

Sanspointe Dance Company will present DECONSTRUCTION ZONE in two performances for the community on November 20th and 21st at 7pm at The Dance Foundation.

Five Sanspointe choreographers:  Sara Turney Wallace, Anna Walker Foshee, Rhea Speights, Alisa McCool and Stella Nystrom have taken famous ballets, or sections of ballets, and deconstructed them based on philosophical and scientific methods to create original dance works. Additionally, the show features all new music by Iron Giant Percussion and set design by artist Adriana Northcutt.

Former Artistic Director Taryn Brown conceived the deconstruction concept and said, “We intend to bring an increased level of research and dissection into the choreographic process. We resolve to bring audiences who love modern, contemporary and ballet dance together. We will create a unified show with many choreographers and dancers, original music composition, and art design.”

General admission is $15; students and seniors is $12. Tickets are available at the door and in advance at Sanspointe.org.  The Dance Foundation is located at 1715 27th Court South, Homewood.  Sanspointe is a Birmingham-based contemporary dance company composed of artists with various backgrounds, values, and approaches to working in the field of dance. Their work collapses the spectrum of possibilities and builds a planar model of art in which anything is possible.
