The Huntsville Ballet Company kicks off its 48th season with Stage Door Canteen and transports you back in time with the music of the Andrew Sisters. Run by a volunteer organization that called itself the American Theatre Wing, Stage Door Canteens offered servicemen nights of dancing, entertainment, food, nonalcoholic drinks, and opportunities to hobnob with celebrities. By November 1945, Stage Door Canteens were operating in eight US cities and London and Paris. Together, they entertained and fed 11 million Allied servicemen.
Unplugged will also feature an original piece by Principal Dancer Jayson Pescasio, Flamenco by Lily Lantini and original choreography by Cathy Curry
