Create a Solo Ballet Work for: “INSTINCT, an interactive choreography competition” Four emerging ballet choreographers will present 4 new solos set on the AROVA Company. These dance creators will compete for cash awards and a contract to choreograph for AROVA in 2010. The audience will be able to text votes in during intermission. Two guest judges and AROVA personnel will also participate in the judging. You choose the competitors! The choreographers’ entries will be posted on You-Tube in August 2009. Log onto www.arova.org in August for links to their solos. The four choreographers with the highest You-Tube ratings will be entered in the" INSTINCT" competition. Choreographers will gain exposure to other dance professionals, critics, granting agencies and the artistic staff of other arts organizations. This exciting evening of new works will include debut choreography from guest judge and Emmy Award-winning choreographer Thor Sutowski. Tickets: $20 Adult / $12 Student Submissions with completed entry form are due July 31, 2009. What You Will Need: 1. Visit www.arova.org. Find the link at the bottom of the home page. Fill-out and print the "INSTINCT" choreographer's information form. 2. a DVD sample of your work. This sample will be posted to our website from August 1-15. (See info on the Elimination Round, right) The DVD does not have to be of the work you will enter in the final round. Please write your name, the name of the work, and the year the work was choreographed on the DVD. The DVD sample should be: * rehearsal or performance video at least two minutes long. * no more than three years old * solo work or a group piece that contains solo moment(s). 3. Entrance Fee: $20.
