The “People in Motion” dance curriculum is designed to build strength both physically and cognitively and enhance the health and well-being (Mind/Body/Spirit) in senior adults who may face major health concerns such as fall risk, depression, isolation, anxiety and decrease in daily activities as well as senior adults who have a variety of cognitive, physical, and emotional challenges.
About The Teachers
Melissa Turnage has an extensive career developing dance curricula and programs, teaching dance in a variety of settings for all ages and abilities, and most recently is an artist in residence with UAB Hospitals’ Arts in Medicine program. Cynthia Brennan, a registered Nurse, has a wealth of experience in dance as a dancer, teacher and administrator, and is currently a volunteer with UAB Hospital’s Arts in Medicine program.

The Dance Foundation is a non-profit organization supported by generous corporations, foundations and individuals. We teach 2,000 students each week through our Studio Program and Community Partnership Program. Our studios are also home to dozens of artists and arts organizations for classes, workshops, rehearsals and performances.
