Dances Along the Line is SP’s second site-specific project. Soon after KINETIC CANVAS at Birmingham Museum of Art in October 2010, we began talking to Railroad Park Executive Director Camille Spratling about the idea to present dance works, accompanied by live music at Birmingham’s new park. At the time, the park was covered in snow and ice. But, plans quickly took shape, and we are now in the throes of rehearsing five new original dances created for and in Railroad Park. The 30-40 performance will begin on the amphitheater hill, wind down around the lake to the “birch bowl,” and culminate on the mound.
