All seats are reserved. The City of Pelham, along with the Alabama Youth Ballet Guild, presents Stevan Grebel's The Nutcracker at Pelham High School, Dec. 8 at 2:30 and 7 PM and Dec. 9 at 2:30 PM. The cast of 60 includes members of The Alabama Youth Ballet Company, professional guest artists and a Community Cast. This year marks the eighth annual production of this wonderful holiday tradition in Pelham. Families from all around Shelby County have enjoyed Stevan Grebel's choreography since 1970, when he was the artistic director in Birmingham for performances at Boutwell Auditorium and the BJCC, until 1982.
There will be an added free performance this year for the students of Pelham schools. Included with the Saturday matinee will be a Kingdom of the Sweets reception and the Nutcracker Boutique.

The Alabama Youth Ballet Company is Shelby County’s premiere pre-professional and pre-college ballet company. The company is for students of classical ballet, ages 9-19. The Alabama Youth Ballet promotes the development of classical and contemporary ballet through high quality performance, dance education and community outreach. Education and outreach activities include student performances for the Shelby County Schools, Pelham Library activities, with development of further programs in progress. The Alabama Youth Ballet is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
