Welcome to Summer Stages Dance 2010! This July, as always, we will bring together an extraordinary group of dance artists to teach, mentor and perform. The intimate nature of our workshop and our emphasis on participation in the creation of new work makes the Summer Stages experience unique. The incomparable dance artists Risa Steinberg, Rachel Ganteaume, Dan Wagoner, and David Parker & The Bang Group will all be in residence. We will present a one of a kind performance by Dan Wagoner in our Dance/Performance Studio as well as a new cabaret evening by the irrepressible David Parker & The Bang Group. In addition, an exciting new dance company, The Troupe, will be in residence. Directed by Michelle Mola and Zack Winokur (SSD ‘03-‘06), these brilliant dancers are recent graduates of The Julliard School, New School, and North Carolina School of the Arts. We are particularly looking forward to our 2010 season as it marks the expansion of our partnership with the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (ICA). Summer Stages resident artists will present The Art of Collaboration: Process & Performance, a new series that highlights the resonance between dance, the visual arts and poetry at the ICA’s stunning Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theatre on Boston’s harbor walk. The extraordinary artists Miguel Gutierrez and Jenny Holzer, Trajal Harrell and Sarah Sze, and Rashaun Mitchell and Anne Carson will help widen our understanding of the collaborative process, bringing their artistry to the stage and to our students. We think you’ll agree that our 2010 Workshop and Performance Series are not to be missed!
