On Alabama's 199th birthday, December 14 of 2018, a dance work inspired by Montgomery, Alabama native Zelda Fitzgerald will be performed at the F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum in Montgomery. There will be three performances to kick off bicentennial celebrations for our state: 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m and will feature Alabama dancers and an Alabamian choreographer. 

The dance work will tell the story of Zelda Fitzgerald, bring to life her sketch, "Three Ballerinas," and discuss through movement the creative partnership of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald as a married couple. The performance will last 10 minutes with a subsequent 15 minute Q&A session for audience members to have a chance to contextualize the history discussed and learn about the creative process from the dance cast, museum staff, and Fitzgerald scholars. 

The goals of the ALABAMA 200 organization are to commemorate Alabama’s history, culture, and natural environment; engage and inspire youth and young adults; and create a legacy for the future so each audience member will receive an educational program to encourage inquiry and direct patrons to further materials, literature, art, museums, and history books on the Fitzgerald legacy and Alabama at large.

It is presented by The Fitzgerald Museum in partnership with Victoria Niblett's Jellybean Dance Collective and the support she received from the ALABAMA 200 organization’s community grant for Morris, Alabama.
