*Our dance classes, which feature Ballet, Horton, Graham, & Jazz techniques, provide dancers the opportunity to refine their skills, explore the latest in modern/contemporary movement, dance history, and more!
*The Dance Workshop will culminate in a showcase on the final day, Friday, August 5, 2016 at 4pm.
Parents, family, and friends are cordially invited!
*Kat choreographed the work, "Nineteen Sixty-Three", which was originally performed in New York City at The Ailey School. The piece pays tribute through dance to the Civil Rights Movement and the four little girls (Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, and Cynthia Wesley) killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama. Kat is collaborating with her brother and musician, Royce Files, and fellow dancers Chelsea Parron and Caci Pritchett, from the 2015 graduating class of the Alvin Ailey/Fordham University BFA Program in Dance, and Mecca Allah from the 2016 graduating class of the Alvin Ailey Certificate Program in Dance.
*"Nineteen Sixty-Three" will be the featured piece in The FILES Arts Project 2016 Summer Dance Showcase!
*This is a free workshop sponsored by The Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, and space is limited!
